The children have been working on their spellings in school over the last few weeks.
In school we read out sentences and the children write them down. They have learned to self correct from the whiteboard.
At home we ask them to pick any three words they are working on from their dictionary (Back of the spelling book) and do a "Look, Cover, Write, Check" activity.
Look - Look at the word. Can you see any other words in this word? Is there anything about this word that looks unusual?
Cover - Cover the word. Can I spell it without looking? Write it in again.
Write - Cover and write.
Check - Do I know this word? Write again.
We would really appreciate if you could rule the children's copy books the same way that we have done it previously.
It might take the children a few days to get used to doing this but we will be checking it in school as well.
They have been doing the homework part in school for the last few weeks so fingers crossed there will be no confusion.
